Weave Pendant Lamps are the first of a series of lamps born through the amalgamation of traditional craft processes and modern CAD development techniques. Basket weaving was fused with computer surface-modeling to create a complex self supporting 3D woven structure that requires no glues or adhesives to hold its form.

Designer Information

Edward Linacre graduated from Industrial Design at Swinburne University in 2010 with First Class Honours, and has been working for Melbourne consultancy CP Design for the past two years. Alongside his work, he has been developing several products as freelance designer. Edward studied Product Design in Germany where he won the HAWK Hildesheim university furniture design prize. This led onto a 6 month internship at international consultancy wiege Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH. He has since received numerous prestigious national and international awards for his work, ranging from furniture to product design engineering, including the DIA Vic/Tas Graduate of the Year Award, and the Global James Dyson Award.

Edward is driven to understanding design from the intimate to the global scale. Fascinated by the emotional connections one can build with their favorite coffee cup, yet conscious of the disastrous environmental, social and cultural consequences of over-consumption, he aims to develop truly appropriate and responsible solutions.
