Yoli Salmona
French-born Yoli Salmona was at first a designer and illustrator who studied at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Her original work on paper became known through print and card publishers in France (Flammarion) and the USA (Artistworks) where she lived for two years.
In Australia, her publishers were Poster Editions and Habit Press.
Soon after migrating to Sydney, she took up oil painting and portraiture and has been a finalist for the Mosman Art Prize, the Waverley Art Prize (first Prize), Shirley Hannan Portrait Prize, Salon des Refusés, Blake Prize, Toyama Poster Triennale, and seven times for the Portia Geach Memorial Award for portraiture. Collections include the National Portrait Gallery, and Waverley Council.
She has recently started to hand paint floor canvasses for ‘CoveredinArt.com’. Some rugs can be found at the Helen Stephens Gallery, Charing Cross.
Good design can bring efficient and elegant solutions to life in the man-made environment and soften our alienation from nature.
It can enhance the experience of everyday living through pleasure addressing our senses, our need for beauty or a particular aesthetic, and our sense of humour.
Whether borne out of accident, desire or necessity, design can change the way we live, we move, we interact.
My kitchen floor boards were crying for a durable, easy to maintain, and movable covering! And they said to make it beautiful too… water and stain resistant…pet-friendly…moppable
