SPONSORS

PRINCIPAL SPONSOR

CHIFLEY PLAZA
For the last three years Ipoh has been sponsoring Workshopped at The Strand.  Over that time, the event developed to a point where it had out-grown the venue.  For that reason we felt that it was time to find a new home for the exhibition in another one of our properties.  We are sure that you will agree, that the gracious spaces at Chifley Plaza have provided a stunning backdrop to the innovative pieces on display.  We hope you enjoy the exhibition and are thrilled by the amazing talent on show .

MAJOR SPONSORS

BOMBAY SAPPHIRE
proudly awards the very best in contemporary Australian emerging design through an annual Design Discovery Award. Supporting WORKSHOPPED is a natural fit and an insight to the rapidly developing design industry and young talent that surrounds us.

WHIRLWIND
Balancing the elements of functionality is something we understand at Whirlwind Print. Everyday we work with our clients to bring their projects to life, to find the right functional balance for their form. Design in context, design every day, that's our life. Whirlwind Print - supporting WORKSHOPPED 06 in vivid colour.

BRITISH AIRWAYS
Design is really important to BA because it helps us innovate new products and services and continue to please our customers.  We take a total design approach to what we do including all stakeholders in the process from brief through to delivery. On every project, we'll involve customers along the design journey too, to make sure that we're developing the design in tune with what they want. This mixture has created some award-winning and novel solutions, such as the Club World flat bed which we launched in 2000.  Design for aircraft has evolved from being very aesthetic-led [60's] to a highly functional period [80's]. Today, we are trying to blend these two classic requirements together within the tight constraints of the airline industry and offering customers products that look good and fulfil the traveller's needs. Like the focus of this year's WORKSHOPPED exhibition, we understand the challenge of design that incorporates both form and function and we are very proud to be a major sponsor of WORKSHOPPED.

MONDO LUCE
Mondo Luce supports WORKSHOPPED as we believe designers need recognition and exposure. Also WORKSHOPPED helps to raise the public awareness of good design and the influence it can have daily in our homes and offices. This is particularly true of lighting. The topic 'Reveal the Function in the Form' could easily refer specifically to a light fitting, which can be designed with either form or function taking preference depending on the requirements. These may be as varied as to light a gallery or a dramatic feature light in a ballroom. Recently with interior preferences leaning towards minimalism, the function was all important, with the form being seen as an intrusion. However with the trend back towards warmth and character (thankfully), the form of a light fitting is once again being seen as a way of adding an integral aesthetic statement (e.g. a chandelier) to what otherwise might have been a bland or cold interior. O ur company (studio Italia) has been importing fine quality Murano glass for 20 years and believes that glass is the classic example of a material that has all elements - texture, beauty, colour, form, and function. We wish everyone involved a successful design week.
